About

As a veteran of the San Francisco Police Department with over 20 years as a crime scene investigator, Lyn O'Connor has processed thousands of crime scenes, and is the department's subject matter expert in crime scene reconstruction. She is a Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst and Certified Bloodstain Pattern Analyst with the International Association for Identification, and a Certified Police Officer Standards and Training SFPD Police Academy Instructor. She has testified in criminal cases in San Francisco Superior court, and in Federal court as in expert in Fingerprint Identification, Trajectory Analysis, Crime Scene Reconstruction and Bloodstain Pattern Analysis for both the prosecution and the defense. She is currently supervising the SFPD C.S.I. Unit and Multi-Media Forensic Lab.

What is crime scene reconstruction?

Crime scene reconstruction is the use of scientific methods for scene analysis, examination of physical evidence and deductive reasoning to gain explicit knowledge of the series of events that surround the commission of a crime.  It answers the questions, what happened? And how did it happen?
